Round Tables
|
The Regional Round Tables conducted by the Moscow School of Political Studies constitute the School’s new approach to enlightenment activity in Russia’s regions. The School’s participants and alumni in the regions take part in organizing and coordinating Round Tables in the regions, providing information about the most relevant topics and possible participants. The School brings its experts to the cities in regions for one-day round tables which allow both, discussing the issues on the local practical level and monitoring possible future seminar participants. The round tables bring together regional public and political elite, scholars, NGO leaders and decision-makers from the region’s administration and legislative bodies.
The School finds it important to pursue educational objectives also on a much lower scale than its traditional seminars. Professional and personal communication of the participants usually continues in their meetings and gatherings. The round tables sometimes become a resource for further collective project work of the participants. By the means of its round tables the School establishes regional active work groups that implement modernizing changes in their fields of action. The round tables also become an instrument for the School’s selection of its future seminar participants, as well as a research tool that allows to analyze the specifics of current political process within the regions. These new smaller forms of the MSPS work have raised substantial positive feedback of the participants. In their opinion, the round tables bring the opportunity of interactive and in-depth discussions of their regional public life. Products of the MSPS Publication Programme, such as books, brochures, the magazine and newsletters are disseminated at the round tables.
